FFILM Y FELIN KICKS OFF

A new film Club, FFILM Y FELIN will be launched in Y Felin Sgwrsio next Sunday night, August 2.

FFILM Y FELIN will show world cinema films once a month, and the first film to be show is the acclaimed Gaelig language film SEACHT(2008) which has received several film awards over the past year.

SEACHT( The Inaccessible Pinnacle) will be presented by Jonathan Ervine, A French lecturer at Bangor University, who is also a member of Clwb y Dysgwyr at y Felin Sgwrsio.

"Seacht is a film which takes a look at contemporary Scottish life along with Scottish mythology by means of the relationship between a grand-father and his grand-son."

"It is a very powerful film and I think people who come along will really enjoy it" said Jonathan.

Cheese and wine will be served at the launch, and there will also be an opportunity for people to join the Ffilm y Felin during the evening.

The evening will start at 7.00. More details from Aled G Job ( Chair of Y Felin Sgwrsio) 07818 068 205.

Councillors Report

June/July 2009

  1. Off-street Parking : the Community Council is holding a survey to find out the extent of the problem in the mid-village area and discussing possible solutions. Maes y Felin : can you please note that parking is for tenants only.
  2. Caernarfon Road Bus Stop : whilst appreciating that not all local residents are happy, we now have a permanent location for the bus stop in this area. This was the location suggested by Gwynedd Council as being the best compromise under the circumstances.
  3. I have been discussing ways of developing the Youth Club with the Leader and with Gwynedd officers. From September onwards the Club will use the Felin Sgwrsio (7 till 8) and the Memorial Hall (8 till 9) on Tuesday evenings. When work on the Hall has been completed, there will be first-class facilities available. In the meantime, the Leader felt that sharing both venues opened up more opportunities for the members. An outdoor project to build bird boxes and a broadwalk in the small woodland at the back of the Community Car Park will take place from September onwards with the help of a grant from FelinDaclus (environmental group) who have been working with Tidy Towns and Gwynedd Council on a number of projects. The Youth Club is open to all village young people from Year 8 onwards.
  4. A grant of £1,000 has been received by FelinDaclus to research the idea of allotments for the village. I have had a meeting with Gwynedd Council and Tidy Towns and a project scheme will be drawn up. FelinDaclus members will visit other areas in the autumn to gather information. There has been a lot of interest in this idea. The land near the Lon Las at the back of Arvonia is being considered as the best location.
  5. Lon Las : a new bridge has been installed at Seilo. The tree that had fallen on the path near Tai Hen Stesion was promptly moved.
  6. Footpaths : I have asked Gwynedd Council to carry out maintenance work off the three paths running off Caernarfon Road.
  7. The Community Gang was at work in the village again last week carrying out a list of work agreed between the Council and myself. They cut back vegetation in a number of places, repainted the bench at the end of Terfyn Terrace and repaired the wall. They will return next month.
  8. Homes for local people : A developer is considering submitting a planning application for a mixed development of up to 30 new homes near Y Wern.
  9. Dwr Cymru have been asked to investigate the water that collects near properties on Caernarfon Road. A burst pipe that was affecting the Lon Las near Tafarngrisiau has been repaired. The problem of bad odour coming from the sewerage pipe on the Lon Las behind Arvonia has still not been resolved.
  10. Felin in Bloom : gardens are being inspected and judged over the next two weeks and there will be an award ceremony in September. Thanks to Councillor Pat White (07765411475) for arranging the event.
  11. Lon Inclein : new signs prohibiting large vehicles have been erected by Gwynedd Council in an effort to prevent further damage to the walls either side of this narrow road.
  12. Rhyd Y Fenai : I have had a site meeting with a Gwynedd officer. I am still concerned about the untidy land around the houses.
  13. Many thanks to the organisers of this year's Gwyl Y Felin for a highly successful event. The newspaper report following the incidents that happened hours after the official end of the Carnival was highly exaggerated and we must keep things in perspective. I witnessed one incident when a youngster was put into a police car and pepper spray was used inside the car, and another incident when two youths from outside the village started fighting outside the public toilets on Beach Road. However, these incidents must not be taken lightly and I will be working with the Gwyl Committee and the police to prevent similar problems next year.
  14. Dog Foul - continues to be a problem in some parts and I am working with the local police officer. Persistent offenders are being recognised and will be targeted. Some of the worst areas include around the bus stop at Aberpwll, the back of Bangor Street, Bangor Street itself, the Lon Las behind Arvonia, the Community Car Park. Most dog owners are very responsible.
  15. Japanese Knotweed : this is becoming a major problem in the village. It needs to be sprayed systematically by a licenced operator. For more infromation, contact Community Council Clerk, Wynne Barton on 01286 673036.
  16. Here to Help scheme was launched in Felin. Private house owners can get help with insulation and energy saving measures. Please contact Adrian Roberts at Gwynedd Council

'10 great village fetes

WALES
Climbing the non-greasy pole
Gwyl Y Felinheli, Y Felinheli, Gwynedd, North Wales
Welsh villages hold festivals — or gwyl — with traditional sports. This one involves a lumberjack show on the village green in which a pole is rammed into the ground and locals compete to climb it. Another challenge involves making a chair out of a log as quickly as possible. Festivities, including a 10km fun run and congregational singing on the beach, take place for a week in the run-up to the festival parade on July 5. Free.'

O FLAEN DY LYGAID: CYFRINACH OLAF FRIDA

Tuesday, July 7, BBC Wales on S4C, 9pm

For journalist Karen Owen, the circumstances surrounding her great-grandmother’s death have always been a bit of a mystery. Frida Williams was found dead in her home at 24 Stryd Menai, Felinheli on the morning of 10 December 1949 and although a natural death was recorded by the doctor at the time, the pieces making up this complex jigsaw don’t all fall into place.

Nine years ago Karen, who works for BBC Wales in Bangor, decided to conduct her own research into Frida’s death. O Flaen dy Lygaid: Cyfrinach Olaf Frida (Frida’s Last Secret) (Tuesday, July 7, BBC Wales on S4C) follows her emotional journey as she tries to piece together Frida’s last movements and the events surrounding her death.

Karen has heard many a time how Frida’s body was found by her son Adrian (Karen’s grand-father) on that Sunday morning. Although her nightdress was ripped and there was bruising around her neck, no formal police enquiry was carried out into her death. The dinner table was laid for two and remained untouched which suggested that widow Frida was not planning on spending the evening alone.

During the programme Karen goes to 24 Stryd Menai for the first time and sees the bedroom where Frida took her last breath. When she pays a visit to her grave, Karen’s doubts regarding the mystery surrounding Frida’s death are intensified by the plain headstone which sits among the decorative stones of the time.

“The main thing that strikes me is that there was a rush, a need to bury Frida here and bring an end to this horrific chapter in the family’s history. Maybe the truth is buried here with her.”

When 84-year-old Edith Williams from Siliwen, Bangor was killed in 1967, local man Arthur Phillip Wynne was charged with her murder. This was indeed the same man who is know to have had a friendship with Frida and regularly spent her money in the town’s pubs. A policeman at the time of the enquiry into Edith’s death requested that Frida’s body be exhumed for forensic testing but the family, for unknown reasons, refused permission at the time.

Karen’s research shows that Arthur Phillip Wynne spent 12 years of his life sentence in prison but was later released only to take another life in Llandudno – this time of 23-year-old Eirlys Roberts.  Karen sets out on a quest to find out whether this man was involved in Frida's death.

“Maybe it’s the journalist in me which believes that if there is a story to be told, that it is told properly and correctly once as this avoids all the talk and gossip which can arise afterwards,” she explains.

Some recent events at Felin Sgwrsio.

The Body Shop evening proved very popular and raised over £140 for the community centre. The local Police Safety Officer calls in at the Councillors' surjery some Friday mornings ( 10 till 12) where you can discuss local matters with County Councillor Sian Gwenllian and Community Councillors Ken Brown and Pat Jones. Or just call in for tea or coffee! Saturday mornings is for Welsh learners who want to chat informally to improve their Welsh. Pictures below.

The Clubs will take a break during the school summer holidays ( see window of Felin Sgwrsio for details) but will be back in September.

Poetry workshop for Welsh learners - 13.06.09

A lively poetry workshop was held by the Welsh Learners' Club at Y Felin Sgwrsio last Saturday.

Around half adozen learners met with poet Ifor ap Glyn to write poems to celebrate minority languages.

“The people who attended the workshop were knowledgable in a number of languages including Spanish, Irish, Malay, Polish ac “Cantonese taxi language!” said Ifor ap Glyn.

The workshop was held ar part of Celf Eden arranged by Snowdonia National Park. The Club wishes to thank the Park for their financial contribution to the Club.

Here are two poems written at Y Felin Sgwrsio last Saturday:

Dwr yw iaith ( Language is Water)

Dwr croyw Euskerra’n
byrlymu fel siampên
o grombil y Pyrrenees,

yn dathlu parhâd yr hil
wrth ddawnsio tua’r aber
yn Donostia

cyn sobri’n San Sebastien
ac yna ymgolli
ym môr mawr y Sbaeneg.

Ond er i’r llanw hallt
lyncu beunydd
geiriau croyw’r mynyddoedd

mae’r Euskerra’n mynnu
ei llwybr tua’r môr;
ac nid yw’r afon wedi sychu byth

-Wyn, Margaret ac Ifor

Salchicha
(a Spanish word for sausage that is also used to encourage someone to smile when a picture is being taken)

Rhygom ni ceir môr o eirfa
Pob gair â’i flas ei hun
Fel gwên ar flaen fy nhafod;
“salchicha” wrth dynnu llun

Rhyngot ti a fi mae afon lân
â phont i’w chroesi’n iawn
Wel dyma iaith y nefoedd,
â’n gwydr yn hanner llawn

CHLOE

The whole village sympathises with Jolene Bunney and Mark Owen following the tragic death of Chloe in a road accident. The school will be closed on Monday, June 8 when the funeral will take place at St Mary's Church.

Four women from Felinheli took part in this year's London Moonwalk and raised over £1,000 for Breast Cancer Research. They were amongst 17,000 who walked 26 miles through London on May 16. They wish to thank all those who sponsored them.

The limerig that was sent to them:-

Roedd blisters y genod yn fawr
'Rol cerdded drwy'r nos am saith awr
Ar y Moonwalk yn Llundain
A Rhiannon yn arwain
Roeddent 'nol yn Hyde Park cyn y wawr .

Councillor's Report May 2009

1)The whole village was shocked by the awful news about the death of Chloe Bunney, 10 years old from Port Terrace. I will be working with the local councillor in the Morfa Bychan area to ensure road improvements.

2 )Bryn y Waun. I have written to Highways about parking problems.

3) 11 Ffordd Caernarfon. I am trying to make sure that these flats are for local people, that the building is not higher that the present one and for more parking palces. If the agent is not in agreement, I will ask for the application to be heard by the full Planning Committee.

4) Pant Erys, Lan y Mor. According to the County Council, it appers that the owner has encroached onto land that is not in his possession. I have asked for action to be taken to prevent further development and for an enquiry into land ownership. Its unlclear whether the land is owned by the Council or by the Assembly.

5) Gardd Fon Corner : I have asked Highways to bring forward ideas on how to make this area safer for pedestrians as some cars drive too quickly around the corner.

6) Prison. It looks at though the Bluefield application has been withdrawn and Justice Ministry officers are discussing the planning aplication with planning officers.

7) A successful rubbish collection day was held on May 17.

8) Thanks to Cllr Pat White for arranging the D-Day memorial near the Clock.

05.05.09 ~ BLACK CAT CROCHET

Four Felinheli women will attempt to crochet over 400 squares in one morning to raise money for their local community centre.

The event will take place between 10 and 1 next Friday morning ( May 8) at Y Felin Sgwrsio, supervised by Felinheli Councillor, Sian Gwenllian.

"One of the Felin Sgwrsio committee members, Dilys Myfanwy, came up with this novel way of raising money," said Sian.

"I will be joined by three others and we will crochet as many squares as possible within three hours," said Dilys Myfanwy.

"We need 425 squares which will then be sewn together to form an Afgan with a black cat design which will be suitable for the back of a chair or a bed throw."

The final product will be raffled during the Felinheli Festival held during the first week of July.

"I am very grateful to Dilys and the other volunteers for organising this event which will boost the funds we need to keep the community centre at the old cafe going," said Sian.

"Everyone is welcome to call in for a coffee and to lend their support on Friday morning and I will be available there as usual to discuss any local issues that Felinheli residents wish to raise," said Sian who can be contacted at the Felin Sgwrsio every Friday morning.

The centre is also used for informal Welsh learners' sessions ( Saturdays 11 - 12 .30), History group ( Thurs 10 -12), Computer clinic ( Wednesday 10-12), Y Felin Stori ( Thursdays 5.30 - 6.30) and is available for hire by groups of up to 25 people. There is a book swap stall in the centre. Amongst the future events are a Body Shop evening on June 18.

Please contact Councillor Sian Gwenllian on 07775642202 for more information.

Councillor's report ~ April 2009

1) Bryn y Waun : Sat Nav is sending large vehicles along Bryn y Waun and Lon Inclein and damage had been caused to walls. I have been discussing the problem with Council officers and the wall is being repaired. I have also been discussing parking problems at Bryn y Waun and will be following the matter up with Gwynedd officers.

2) Fallen tree near Aberpwll : Gwynedd Council is concerned about the condition of a number of trees overhanging the main road - one fell last week. They are in contact with the landowner about the matter.

3) Water on road near Glan Menai, Ffordd Caernarfon : the Council has been informed.

4) Step outside house at Augusta Place. At last the step has been removed making room for two extra parking areas. Any further ideas for small schemes to improve parking in this part of the village would be welcomed.

5) Broken pavements on Bangor Street have been repaired.

6) Building work at Pant Erys, Beach Road. The Council is monitoring this work.

7) Bus stop at Caernarfon Road : Arriva drivers have again been reminded that there is a bus stop here despite the lack of sign.

8) 11 Caernarfon Road : planning application for 4 flats. I have been discussing this with the Planning Officer and am pressing for a "local needs" clause, sufficient parking and height restriction.

9) Foul smells on Los Las behind Arvonia. I have been in contact with Dwr Cymru about this problem. They have inspected the cover and this is not the cause of the problem. They have increased the chemical dosage at the Bethel sewerage plant.

10) My work on a Gwynedd level as member of the Development Scrutiny Committee, Young People and Children's Scrutiny Committee, Primary Schools Reorganisation Advisory Panel, Chair of Youth Services Working Group, member of Skills and Training Group continues as well as my role as Arfon leader of Plaid Cymru Councillor's Group.

11) My work in developing the village website continues. Promotional coasters are planned. www.felinheli.org received 29,487 hits in April 2009. My work with Felin Sgwrsio and FelinDaclus ( environmental group) continues as does my role as school governor at Syr Hugh and Ysgol Felinheli. I also have regular contact with PCSO Michael Davies from North Wales Police.

12) Footpath survey : the results of the Community Council's survey are now in - speical thanks to George, Andy and Nerys for their help. We will now collate the information and prioritise the work that's needed.

13) Hall Management Committee : a structural survey has shown that there are no major problems and detailed plans will now be drawn up. The rest of the funds are in place, following a succesful bid to Tir a Mor.

Cymraeg on the Move

NEW WEBSITE FOR WELSH LEARNERS!

AN INNOVATIVE new product for Welsh learners has just been launched by a Felinheli based company.

The website www.cymraegonthemove.co.uk has been created by Cwmni Aliaith, and it includes 24 informal conversations between Welsh speakers and learners on a range of subjects on modern day life in Wales. Learners can go to the website and download the podcasts for free on to their computer/laptops. Mp3 or IPod.

“I know for a fact that many learners are very busy people with maybe no time to attend a formal language class. These conversations have been compiled specifically for this audience so that people can listen to them whilst going about their every day activities” said Aled G Job, of Cwmni Aliaith

“Listening is the most important element of all in learning a new language in my opinion, and listening to informal conversations between people is the best form of listening.”

Each conversation lasts for around 10 minutes, and a translation of some of the key words and phrases is provided at the end. If learners enjoy the podcasts, they can move on to the full multi-media package provided by Cymraeg on the move team.

This first series is aimed at learners who have been learning Welsh for 2 years or more. A second series aimed at newer learners will be on-line by the time of this year’s National Eisteddfod in Augyst,

Tribute to village character

One of Y Felinheli's best-known characters was honoured last night at a special tribute meeting in the village.

Councillor WO Jones , aged 89, served for a total of nearly 60 years on Gwynedd Council, Arfon Borough Council and Y Felinheli Community Council.

Local historian Len Williams talked about his life in the village and outlined his career as a councillor. "One of his major achievements was securing a by-pass for the village," said Len. "He organised a sit-down protest in the street that stopped the traffic in the village and he led the campaign for thenew road in the nineties."

Gwynedd Councillor Sian Gwenllian, also Chair of Felinheli Community Council said she was priveleged to pay tribute to WO Jones for his untiring work on behalf of the village. She presented him with a framed poem by local poet Lyn Davies ( former head of Y Felinheli Primary School.)

WO Jones thanked the villagers for coming to the special night and then gave a talk about the Afon Menai. The evening ended with a special showing of "Y Felinheli's old shops" - a digital presentation in sound and pictures compiled by WO Jones and Dennis Roberts.

LEARNING WELSH Felinheli style

A highly successful coffee morning was held by CLWB Y DYSGWYR (Welsh Learners’ Club) at Y Felin Sgwrsio last Friday.

Around 25 people came together to listen to the singer/songwriter Geraint Lovgreen perform his poems and songs. Geraint then turned his hand at being a quizmaster, with a quiz on all things Welsh.

The winning learner, answering 26 out of 30 questions correctly was Amanda from Pontllyfni, assisted by Alex from Ysgol Felinheli and Gwenno. Amanda won a new CD by Gwyneth Glyn.

The coffee morning raised £70 for Y Felin Sgwrsio. The Club meets there every term time Saturday morning ( 11 till 12.30 p.m.). Learners are welcome to call by and chat in Welsh over a cup of coffee.

Village Eisteddfod Revived ?

Press Release

Villagers at Y Felinheli will get together next week to try and revive the Village Eisteddfod.

"There's a lot of enthusiasm about the idea," explained Councillor Sian Gwenllian who will chair the meeting next Tuesday ( March 24, Bethania Chapel, 7.30 p.m.)

"The Eisteddfod used to be held for many years and as a child I remember singing on stage in front of a packed village hall! In recent years, many people have talked about holding a similar, if smaller, event in the village.

"The meeting will dicuss the various options and see if there are enough volunteers available. I learnt last week that there is still a Felinheli Eisteddfod bank account and a sum of money available to get things off the ground.

"There is certainly enough talent in the village and the school supports the idea."

Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen : The facts

"Over the last four years Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen has lost the equivalent of 17 members of teaching staff. This action had to be taken by the school and the board of governors in order to alleviate a substantial financial deficit – NOT a debt. These deficits become harsh realities to schools across Gwynedd and beyond as they try to cope with reduced budgets and falling school numbers. Though not requested by the school, the sum of £150,000 from Gwynedd Council prevented Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen from having to make further job cuts in the current financial year which would have led to a serious deterioration in the children's education.
The school has to cut one more teaching job in the next financial year. The school is now back on track.
By his recent public outcry Councillor Aeron Jones of Llais Gwynedd clearly does not understand how school budgets work. Neither, it seems, is he interested in taking responsible action in these harsh financial times,” said Councillor Sian Gwenllian, Governor at Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen.

DATES TO NOTE:

  1. March 7 : Felinheli Fair Trade event at Y Felin Sgwrsio 12.15 – 2.00 p.m.
  2. March 19 : Gwyn Llewelyn, Bethania chapel ( Welsh medium event) 7.30
  3. March 24 : Village Eisteddfod meeting ( Welsh medium event) 7.30
  4. March 31 : WO Jones at Capel Bethania ( Welsh medium event) 7.30
  5. April 3 : end of term disco for primary school children – Memorial Hall
  6. April 25/26 : Junior Football Tournament : Seilo
  7. May 15 : Stomp ( Welsh poetry)
  8. June 12 – Cylch Meithrin’s Auction of Promises at Seiont Manor.

FEBRUARY 2009

Report by Councillor SIAN GWENLLIAN

These are some of the matters I have been dealing with:

  1. Memorial Hall: The Management Committee is to get a grant of up to £213,000 to improve the Hall. We need to find a small amount of money to reach the total cost of £250,000 before starting on this ambitious project and I am confident we will be able to do that.
  2. Prison: I raised the matter in Gwynedd Council’s Development Committee and a Project Board is being set up. I will be working hard to ensure that the local economy will benefit and to allay fears.
  3. Road Safety and Parking: The scheme on Bangor Street is moving along slowly. I have written to the Council to complain about the length of time this is taking.
  4. Beach Road: I have had two meetings with officers about the dangerous bollards and its intended to draw up a scheme to improve the area in general. There will be consultation on this.
  5. The Blitz work is to take place throughout the village over the coming weeks.
  6. I have been working with Delwedd to create a new website for the village. Felinheli.org has not been finished yet but it’s live – please visit and send any comments.
  7. Caernarfon Road bus stop – still no agreement.
  8. Primary School Reorganisation (Gwynedd Council). Full discussion will take place in the Council on April 2 and a seminar has been organised for Governors’ Chairmen, head teachers councillors on March 12. I am also on the Skills Working Group.
  9. Young People’s Services Working Party – I am chairing this and have visited a number of youth clubs in the area and at a Conference organised by the Assembly.
  10. Bron Menai: I had the opportunity to discuss the problems that arose in the Corporate Parenting Panel.
  11. Cylch Meithrin ( Nursery Group): I met with officials who are anxious about the financial situation.
  12. I met with two young women from the village who are to raise money for Tŷ Gobaith by climbing Kilimanjaro.
  13. I attended a meeting of Ysgol Y Felinheli governors and although there was concern about redundancies, there will be none this year.
  14. I was consulted about a number of problems: sewerage at Port Terrace, unsuitable gate between Sea View and Wern, planning application at Tyddyn Perthi; by the Boat Shed about a sign on Bangor Street; unofficial ramps on Marina Bridge; dangerous dog on Bangor Street. I will try to help with these matters.
  15. Canolfan Iechyd Rowen Medical Centre : I have been assured that this project is safe despite budget cuts.
  16. Bridge at Aberpwll and top of Steps Cei : Council workers have been instructed to remove ivy and dead vegetation.

If you want more information or want to discuss these or any other matters here are my contact details:

23.02.09 - New location for Felinheli Recycling Banks

Y Felinheli residents will be pleased to know that the village’s recycling banks have been moved to a new, more convenient location.

For years the banks were hidden away in a small car park in the middle of the village. But now, thanks to co-operation between Gwynedd Council, Antur Waunfawr and local watering hole, the Halfway House, an answer to the problem facing the emptying crew to access the banks has been solved.

The banks have been moved to a more prominent spot, the car park of the Halfway House pub in the village.

Councillor Sian Gwenllian, who represents Felinheli on Gwynedd Council noted:

“I am very pleased that the banks have been moved to such a convenient spot for Felinheli residents, everyone knows the Halfway House.

“More and more residents want to do their bit for the environment by recycling and composting as much as possible of their waste, and we are confident that this new location for the recycling banks will mean that even more Felinhlei residents will make use of the facility. The site offers an opportunity to recycle paper, glass and cans, as well as an additional bin for the plastic bags used to carry the materials.”

Steffan Jones, Gwynedd Council’s Senior Waste Manager added:

“By allowing us to re-locate the banks to their car park, the Halfway House has done us a great deed, not only will this show people more ways to recycle, but the location makes it much easier for us to collect the materials. Recycling banks are a great and easy way to recycle, and help us in our efforts to reach the challenging recycling targets set by the Assembly Government.”

For more information about any of our recycling banks or any aspect of the service please contact Gwynedd Council’s Waste and Recycling Help Desk on: (01286) 679872.

New location for Felinheli Recycling Banks

SIAN GWENLLIAN'S REPORT

These are the matters I have been involved with in January 2009:

1) I sent a grant application on behalf of Felin Daclus to Tidy Towns for money to set up a group that will hold dog foul and litter campaigns, work with the school and youth club on projects in Cerrig yr Afon and behind the car park near the Lon Las ( Bird Boxes etc). Also the group will be researching the idea of allotments for Felin.

2) Road Safety : I have been in close contact with Gareth Roberts as the marking along Bangor Street commenced. So far the bus lay by has been marked, near the Clock, at the entrance to Augusta Place and Menai Street and along the laybys in Beach Road. 6% of the Beach Road area has been marked for use by diasbled users.

The rest of the work should follow soon : around the bend and oppostite, entrance Cwrt Menai and two parking bays in car park. There will be 2 parking spaces near Chans ( mistake at present) The work of removing the studs from the road, placing parking restriction signs and two signs ( disabled parking) in the car park, placing a bus stop pole and sign and timetable and a railing to prevent cars mounting the pavement near the garage is scheduled next.

3) Re-cycling - I have hurried the job of moving and re-establishing the recycling centre.

4) Lan y Mor - I had a meeting with the officer about the dangerous bollards and another meeting has been arranged to dsicuss the longer term plan for Lan Mor.

5) Lon Brynffynnon - I have been in contact with Meirion Williams about the need for engineering work when the resurfacing work happens. I have ensured that better speed humps are placed here and that the work is not done during term-time.

6) Felin Sgwrsio - I spoke at the official opening and continue to hold Friday morning sessions.

7) Y Wern - I have been discussing the need for speed humps and the Council will conduct a survey.

8) Council Houses : I chaired a meeting of tenants to discuss the stock transfer proposals.

9) I am awaiting to see the list of works following the recent Blitz meeting.

10) I have been asked to chair a meeting to discuss the idea of holding a Village Eisteddfod.

11) I chaired a meeting to elect new officials for gwyl y felin and attended two committee meetings.

12) I have been working on the new website - co-ordinating pictures, Cds and writing text. Delwedd is coming to the next meeting.

13) Caernarfon Road bus stop : I have been in discussions with the Council. local elector and the owner of the site of the previous garage about re-location.

14) I have attended the Schools Re-organisatin workshop meetings that has now produced its report.

15) I have written to Dafydd Williams about creating a lay by at the back of Augusta Place, widening the pavement near the kiosk in Aberpwll, providing a pavement near Bron Menai and up to the school and a number of smaller items.
